Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School Wrestling Practice with NO School

How many schools have practice when school is out, for what ever reason. In this case an ice/snow storm?

I thought that was against the rules. If it's too hazardous to get there for an education, wouldn't it be too hazardous to get there for a practice/activity? You would think KSHSAA would have this one nailed down pretty well.

That decision is left up to each district. Alot of times conditions improve enough during the day to have practice. We aren't practicing today because of the ice.

we had practice yesterday and will again today its ok though if it turns sour then we are all rushed outta there. we keep a good eye on things

As a former coach in a rural school, this was such a problem, especially with maintaining weight and conditioning.

We came up with a very fun routine when school was cancelled. We could not practice, but the basketball team could,,,never figured that one out. Anyway We went sledding on a very steep hill near one of the kids farm. I staked out a rope, it was amazing, the guys would go up and down that hill all afternoon, we got a good cheap workout that even the biggest fishes participated in.

no school = no practice (Shawnee Mission School District)

We had practice today at 1:30 but it was optional, we had a pretty decent turnout though. School has already been cancelled for tomorrow and I'm pretty sure we'll do the same tomorrow.

wellington has practice unless the building blows away lol its ok though good for the people who need to make weight nice to sleep all day and go to wrestling practice

At Hill City we've had pratice everyday this week even though we didn't have school. Over Christmas break we had 2-a-days.

...policy is dont risk life and limb, but for those who can make it, especially those who live in town; practice is at 10 am.

no school= no pratice (in beloit) last year we had pratice and we got told on our last snow day that we couldn't have pratice when school is cancled but i like the sledding for stayin in condition.

At buhler, no school and no practice equals YMCA or the stairs at our NJCAA building.

new years practi e we did alot of somersalts and cartwheels. anything to see if people were drinking. it was funny to see people even when they werent drinkin. i was almost sick.

manhattan always has practice, no matter what, but that's because we choose to. i missed practice the other day, but that's only because i slept in, but no worries our coaches understand sometimes we can't make it to practice due to the fact we live so far away and dont' ahve rides.

El Dorado always practices even when we dont have school and we're expected to go.

we have opptional practice...coach will be there if you want to go...but i think its a good thing that we can...good for the guys who need to lose weight

So here's a question in regards to Friday. How many teams slated to go to a 2-day tournament won't end up going now because they don't have school slated for Friday either? I think the Saint Mary's tournament would probably be the most affected if that happens.

Just realized that St. Mary's was cancelled...but does anybody have a good answer on that question?

Ya we were suppost to go their, but now we got the weekend off since it is cancelled.(Washburn Rural that is)
