Les Brown, the wizzard of wrestling wisdom, you may know this...who are the current top ten winningest coaches, categories include:
most dual wins over all
top win percentages
most tournaments victories
most state titles
most top 3 finishes in state
coached most state champions & placers
and.. most years active..
and finally they must have a minimum of at least 10 years in the game to be eligible..

if you wanted a seperate different catregory for those under 10 years that would interesting too..

then on a final note..how many are coaches for NWK schools out of the top ten?

i dont know if you have access to this information but i thought it interesting piece of trivia

without putting a lot of effort into it.

Not taking anything away from all those great years and great teams, but we can only wonder what great team races there would have been if Ark could have just been in 4A... coach would have had a little more stressful state tourneys verse the blow outs..

You have got to be kidding!!! The early 90's Ark City teams were probably the best Kansas has ever had. I believe they were ranked as high as sixth in the nation at one time.

tksnks, I echo your thoughts. Everyone involved with wrestling knows that Ark city was and stil lis a great team. However there have been several years when they came into the state tournament with dual loses and won it. How would they have faired in 1998 & 1999 in 4A honestly I don't think they would have won it there. 5A is notorious for being the easiest class to compete in, and aside from Goddard, and more recently Bishop Carroll and Kapaun I see no other competition coming out of that class. One has to wonder why a team wins so many titles? Is it maybe becuase Ark City is the only real good team in 5A I think it is

Ark City may have had dual losses going into state becuase they went to tough Oklahoma tournaments.

Most anyone with any sense would realize that Ark City would have won any class, especially in 1991.

Again they were great teams, but it would have been much tougher because of the paridy in 4A, they, wouldnt have won all those matches by falls, dual teams and tourney teams are so different. No one will ever know but it would have been a much different outcome in any of the other classifications. Even 321A in those years would have been a tougher test then 5A was,I have been a witness of all the A's and some dont think so, but Hays is another world in itself. Being in those kids back yard brings a bunch of pride and they dont give up the falls and are just as happy to win a 4-3 decision. Unfortunately Kansas teams dont have the cash or allowance to travel and test the best teams. They were tough but will always be questioned.

I'm pretty sure Chris Hernandez was only a 2-time champ (the second one, in 1991, was not deserved)

Chris Hernandez won three (3) State Titles!

1989 - (5A) Hernandez, Chris [Arkansas City] (152 lb.)

1990 - (5A) Hernandez, Chris [Arkansas City] (171 lb.)

1991 - (5A) Hernandez, Chris [Arkansas City] (160 lb.)

I was in attendance at the match GorillaHawk is referring to in 1991 when Chris was on his back, and many thought pinned. The referee did not slap the mat, and Chris persevered and won the match.

Deserved or not, Hernandez won his third title!

You have no arguement from me concerning 91 im talking about in the last six years, like the last decade.

Yes, that was a misprint, Chris Hernandez was not a 4x state champ he was only a 3x state champ and a NATIONAL CHAMP!!!!!!!!!!

I thought this was about coaching achievements or was until some low life whinner turned it into a bash on a three time state champion and great wrestler because he got a break. How about we go back to the original topic. I think that that one has been hashed over before here, with the kid who had Chris in the hold even getting in on it. Both wrestlers have my respect for the way they handled it then, Monkeysparrow doesn't for being a jerk now. It's the Holiday's, surely sparrow has more to do than bad mouth people for something that happened over 10 years ago.

Go back to your "so-called" website...I was just pointing out that Hernandez, in my opinion (and one that I am entitled to without being belittled by a "hack" writer/photograher) shouldn't have won...Yes, he ended up on the winning side, but it was a controversial...End of story...
