Ok I'm going to say 1998 State Champs had some great guys on it:
103: Dustin May-Derby 112: Derek Jones-Hoxie 119: Zach Roberson-BV NW 125: Bo Maynes- Sal South 130: Jay Hrabe-Plainville 135: Travis Stites- McPherson 140: Drew Soule-Ark City 145: Brandon Pfizenmaier- Clay Center 152: Matt Bradshaw-Manhattan 160: Bill Brine- Goddard 171: Scott Coleman- Manhattan 189: Joe Nelson- Wichita South 215: Damon Parker - Manhattan HWT: Darrell Zimmerman-Concordia/Rusty Miller-Norton (very tough decision on that with maybe a slight edge to Zimmerman for his size, Miller is very athletic though)

Isn't there a topic titled 2006 All-Star team already? I like Sweazy's post much better.

In 1998, 6A 160 was pretty loaded - Kenneth Walter of Manhattan (3rd place) and Aaron Pastor of Blue Valley (2nd place), with Gaylen Taylor of Wichita West coming out on top.
How would Taylor have stacked up against Bill Brine? Did they ever meet during the high school season?

Coach Bovaird,
Not sure if they ever met up, but 160 across the board was rough that year. Check out some of the champions I put behind my starter picks at some other weights:
103- Gabe Jenkins-St.Francis, Jeremy Long-SFT, Jason Puderbaugh-Seaman.
145- Kelly Gabel-St.Francis, Pat Giangrosso-Carroll, Justin Crabbs-Hutch.

1997 and 1998 6A 152 were each pretty tough in their own respects (yeah, yeah, I was in this weight, so I've got to mention it...)
1997 1st - Matt Bradshaw, Manhattan 2nd - Chad Cox, Shawnee Mission South (took 2nd to Jim Carriaga the year before) 3rd - Gaylen Taylor (4th the year before) 4th - Ryan Arndt (4th the year before, 5th in 1998) 5th - Jacob O'Neil, Blue Valley Stilwell (accomplished kids medalist, 5th the year before) 6th - Bobby Bovaird, Washburn Rural
1998 1st - Matt Bradshaw, Manhattan 2nd - Nate Blevins, Wichita Northwest (2nd the next year) 3rd - Matt Stevens, Junction City (freshman medalist, champ the next year) 4th - Bobby Bovaird, Washburn Rural 5th - Matt Sperry, Garden City (another accomplished kids wrestler) 6th - Greg Hunsucker, Olathe North
