I don't know but if Drennen didn't (or doesn't) I would question the procedure.

I think you could give it to any of the four 145lbers I mean it was a matter of who was better on the day that won state.

I'm not sure that I agree with that. Drennan beat two great wrestlers that were going for their third state titles. It appears he steps up when it really counts. I think that makes it clear that if your going with the 145 pounders than Drennan is your best choise.

Drennan never beat Pyle this year, if he is one of the wrestlers going for their 3rd you said he beat. Eric Johnson beat him, plus Eric Luedke, who won 4A state over a previously undefeated wrestler and who beat Drennan earlier in the year.

mark alls people are saying is that drennan deserves the 3-2-1a wrestler of the year, for winning the toughest weight class in 3-2-1a and prob. the toughest in the state. what the ealier post is saying is that last year drennan stopped pyle from becoming a 3 timer and this year he did the same to eric johnson. i also think that you have to give senior wreslter of the year to a state champ. drennan deserves it he was the best that weekend that counts the most STATE.

Well let's see. In addition to Drennan, who are the other state champ candidates?

1. Jeremy Morris of Beloit at 140. Great year, but 145 was much tougher than 140. Plus Drennan always beat him last year.

2. Brett Hille at 152. 2-timer but again 152 was certainly not as rugged as 145.

3. Philip Lyons at 189. Great year in a tough weight class. May be able to make an argument for him, although 145 had a combined 6 state championships.

Only 4 senior state champs in a young state tourney. I think Drennan is the clear cut choice

IT would be nuts to say somebody is the wrestler of the year that did not win state. The wrestler of the year should have as the #1 goal to win state, if you don't do it you are not the wrestler of the year. It is the wrestler of the year, not last year or the year before.

I certainly don't agree that anything is crooked if Drennan does not win, there are three other state champs who are seniors but if another 145 besides the state champ wins, well then I don't think the vote would ever have credibility again.
