Difficult to see Maize finishing 6th with only 5 qualifiers and 2 ranked wrestlers not qualifying for State. Same discussion as in years past, some Regionals much tougher than others.

Yes

I also thought Ely and Shumate were in the same bracket...

I hate to see 1st and 2nd ranked wrestlers on the same side of the bracket, (Shumate vs Ely mainly), how come they don't seed the tournament after everyone qualifies.

Maybe i'm not understanding how rankings are done, but Mahan beat Johnson at BVNW this year. Shouldn't this put him ahead of Johnson. I would think that the rankings at 145 would be:
1. Thibault
2. Sibala
3. Kemp
4. Carr
5. Mahan
6. Johnson
Please correct me if I am missing something.

I'm really not concerned with the rankings. I'm more curious as to what information is used and who comes up with the placements. I wish everyone that qualified for STATE the best of luck this weekend. It should be very memorable!

Andrew Wagner of Manhattan 130, not anywhere on the brackets for his team. I dont even see him at 130lbs. This has been the problem all year we either get no rankings, or not accurate information. This year we have had individuals ranked that have graduated, or even those who are no longer wrestling. I hope that next year we can be as lucky as to have someone as good as 5A to do our rankings. Who ever did the 5A Rankings, you did a Great job all year and I applaud you. Richard how is it that you have been the only one to physically post the 6A rankings or even find them?

Wagner scratched at regionals due to injury and his doctor not releasing him. I am sure he is disappointed but if the doctor wont release, then he can't go. He was in the running to win that bracket and is a very good kid. I wish him luck in the future.

I will not say the exact reason he scratched as that is not for me to put on the net. But the reason that coach Gonz gave me is a legit enough reason to sit out. Living a long healthy life is way more important that wrestling at some point!
