Congratulations to freshman Lucas Vincent for winning the Sunflower League title at heavyweight. Who knows you may end up winning four Sunflower League titles in your high school career. It isn't easy for a freshman to win at that weight. Very well done, Lucas.

Congratulations to the other big wrestlers from 189 on up who did well by placing first or second: Matt Baker, Jack Kapaun, Jake Woten, Drew Robinson, and TJ McManus. I guess I should not be just giving congrats to the big wrestlers but I tend to follow this group a little closer than the other weight groups.

Congratulations to Olathe North on the team win and to Shawnee Mission East for a very close second place. Both teams have had a good year and I know you are not done battling against each other. Olathe East in taking third was pretty close too. It sounds like it was a good competitive tournament. Good luck to all the wrestlers and teams from the Sunflower League at regionals next week.

Eric, how is Tanner doing? I wasn't expecting that he was going to be able to wrestle in this meet.

Vince,

Tanner wore a shoulder brace and injury defaulted one match but still wrestled 3 other matches and went 2-1. I really thought he was done after the injury on Tuesday night, but it is better than it was the last time he hurt it. I was really proud of him today. His first match he was favoring the shoulder and lost 17-4. He came back on the back side and pinned the same kid after being up 6-0. He just wanted to help the team and score any points that he could. We lead most of the day and SM North made an amazing comeback. We were 1/2 point behind going into the 285 final, McManus vs. Lucas. Winner take all and Lucas won it for North.

- Eric

Jacob was 5-0 and took first. He did have a very tough triple double overtime win against Phil Collins of Blue Valley Northwest in his final match of the day.

Yes, twice. Jacob beat him on points the first time and pinned him the second. Both very good matches.

Tanner is a tough kid. I wish him the best of luck at State.

McManus and Lucas are both good wrestlers. It is always exciting when the outcome comes down to the heavyweight match. I think Lucas came thru for Olathe North for the decisive match in SM East dual earlier in the year against McManus.

Scarecrow 103:

Congratulations to you on winning 103. I am pretty sure that you are the 103 winner.

Is Lorenzo going to be ready to wrestle at regionals? I have not seen his name lately in your team's results.

Chaz was dominating about 7-3 then with about 30 left in the 2nd coty sat out and tryed to pull him over then kept spinning until he had him in a snake, then put in the honey mooner.
