When I talked with Neil, Sr. at the high school state championships, he said that he did not believe that Neil would be competing in Kids this year. Instead, he was going to get a head-start on the upcoming freestyle/Greco season.

Brett McClernon from Maize, and Matthew Bailes from Turner wrestled this weight at the classic. I think Bailes got 2nd at high school state this year as a freshman.

I dont understand this topic. I am assuming this original poster is a 14 and under wrestler. I am also assuming a coach has entered him as a 16 and under wrestler. Please clarify as I know for a fact that a wrestler who is not in the age group he is supposed to be in cannot compete in the age group above his. For instance a 14-under wrestler cant compete at 16-under in this qualifying series.

Yes i am a 15 year old wrestler. I have the choice of wrestling 14 or 16 yo. My B-day falls after the cut off date for 14 under. My coaches thought that i was older than what i was. They didnt figure it out till the other day that i can wrestle 14 yo. There is nothing they can do about it now because the brackets have been made and so has the seedings. I dont care that i have to wrestle older kids. I have wrestled these kids all year an di would liek to keep on doing it.

What I am saying is you dont have a choice. You have to wrestle the age and weight you are eligible for. Just because there was an error on the entry and it said you were in 16 and under it should have been caught and you should have to wrestle 14 and under.
We ran into this last year with a HWT kid who wanted to wrestle the next age up because of his weight and they would not let him. He had to lose the weight and wrestle in the correct age group! Just thought you needed to know.
