Just wnated to get some input, I heard that Augusta won it's 3rd consecutive AVCTL Title last night by beating El Dorado 64-7 or
so. Based on follow up, AHS had 3 ranked kids and didn't lose a dual all season. Congratulations on that feat Coach Brandon Terry, first year AHS Coach, and your wrestling team.

Ark Valley -- As expected, the AV-CTL Division II title will be decided after tonight's match between McPherson and Valley Center.

McPherson coach Richard Settle knows how successful Valley Center has been and how its program has become a powerhouse. It will be a challenge for him.

"We got a shot, but I think they're a little stronger than we are," Settle said. "They're just tough all the way through."

To beat Valley Center, Settle said the team needs to win as many of the light and middle weight classes as possible. That's where he feels his team is most equal with the Hornets. Bart Hageman at 112 has to go up against the No. 2 ranked wrestler in the state. Settle said his wrestlers have reason to be confident.

"We have beaten them several places in tournaments," he said.

Valley Center 52, McPherson 18

103--Dean, VC, pinned Rosas. 112--Nitcher, VC, pinned Hageman. 119--Stults, VC, dec. Davis, 8-7. 125--Mertins, VC, pinned Turner. 130--Sallee, VC, pinned Turner. 135--Coley, VC, dec. Nelson, 9-1. 140--Brietigan, VC, pinned Wenyer. 145--McGoldrick, VC, dec. Julian 14-6. 152--Schwindt, VC, pinned Barrow. 160--McMurray, M, dec. Shumaker, 12-8. 171--Graber, M, dec. Case, 6-4. 189--Richter, M, pinned Mier. 215--Whitehill, M, pinned Rarey. 285--Hedger, VC, pinned Moore.

Valley Center won their twenty first straight dual and also clinched the AVCTL Division II Title!

Uh, Cold as Ice,

Yes, Augusta did beat El DOrado last night, but it was 61-7, and they did announce that it was their 3rd straight AVCTL-III title.

Gee, Mr. Salyer, thnaks for pointing out the ditinguishing factor between Div.'s 2 & 3. I have been out of town and I just got a chance to read your response. Does everything have to be politically correct on this forum? I was congratulating a coach and his team effort on accomplishing that feat, but here we go with the hoopla that you are notorious for. Let some of us enjoy the posts that are presented before they get butchered with the political (#$^&#^^$%&^&) that gets thrown in all the time!! Best Regards!!

I think we need to set aside time to have an AVCTL tournament that has all the teams involved! 2 day tournament right at the beginning of the year or something.

I think that'd easily be one of the toughest tourneys in the state. Only problem is what coach wants a league tourney like that at the begining of the year? But then what coach would want it the week before regionals? I don't know that to many coaches would like that idea unfortunately.

Hey guys, I appreciate your comments, and in contrast to the original post, that passage was meant to be along the lines of a congratulatory manner to Augusta. Yes I agree it would be a heck ov'a tournament. But in reality it's one person that took it out of context. GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE, SIMPLY PUT.
Congrats, to all winners of AVCTL divisions I,II, & III, maybe that will satisfy the notion.

Congrats to Augusta, they are a very solid team, who probably doesn't get all the credit they deserve.

Better not forget Div. IV either or you'll get jumped for that!
