Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School meals on trips

Does your school provide meals for the wrestlers? If they do how healthy are the meals? Our school does but the coach always goes for the typical fast foods(greasy)real healthy huh! I remember when I wrestled in Great Bend, the schools cafeteria used to make us sandwiches, cookies, and have fruit and drinks for on the way. We would always have good healthy meals the rest of the time, and on our way home we always stopped and had a good steak.

I don’t know if our school is required to provide things for the kids on out of town trips or not. But our wrestling Parents Club has fund raiser to help provide food for the kids during the larger tournaments. We try and provide healthy meals along with fruit & things for snacks. Normally there will be a wrestling mom more than happy to make sure we get the food there for them. You don’t dare send it with the kids. It would be gone before it gets there.

The parents,coach,booster club whoever wants to takes turn in our set up, usually the seniors parents take charge and pass around a sign up sheet when we hace our syrup scrimmage. Everyone signs up for 1 breakfast and 1 sandwich (booster club rep signs up first and usually do 2 breakfast and 2 sandwich) and everyone takes turns fixing breakfast after weigh in and another does the sandwiches,chips, cookie, fruit whatever every meet and after the meet before or on the bus we grab and go except the one home dual we dont have sandwiches. We usually have a pizza night comming home after a meet like a later meet and time span between.
Its great.......The for regionals my mom buys the water,gatoraide,juice whatever we drink for the team and we carry it in and its our responsibility as a team to get the cooler back to her for the next day.

a member of the wrestling teams parents provide us with a healty cooler of food for the tornys and stuff i think thats real cool and i thank them for doin that, cuz it does help alot.
