if this was based off of the state brackets, wood and keller cannot be one and two, they will see eachother in the semi's.

They must not be based off the brackets or Cook from Hays, who is in the 215 bracket at State, would not be ranked at 171.

The rankings are prepared by a volunteer High School wrestling coach selected by the 5A wrestling coaches.

My role in the rankings is simply to post on the talk forums for informational purposes and to seek input to be passed on to the ranking coordinator.

If I mislead any reader to believe I prepared the rankings or was the rankings expert I apologize.

Keller and Wood are ranked one and two in this ranking because that's where they've been all year. It would be unfair to dock one of them from their position when neither of them lost last week. Also, basing a ranking off a bracket wouldn't be very accurate considering the bracket positioning is based off of which regional you came out of, not based on reseeding the pool of wrestlers in each weight class by record. Either way, this is one of a number of intriguing matchups that we could be seeing before finals in a lot of brackets.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't rankings a list of where kids are projected to finish at state? If so, then placement in the brackets would be crucial to the rankings.

Good point. It also underlines the need to seed the 4 regional champions while keeping everyone else in their earned positions.

Agreed Curtis, and the Chief raises a good point about seeding the regional champions. It'd be nice to see.

the top 4 definitely need to be seeded. i hate it when their is like a 6-4 OT semifinal and then the final is a quick pin or major decision. its even worse when the kid who lost in the close semi has a better record and head to head wins against the kid who got 2nd.

Too bad your 103 and 135 predictions were off. I watched both of those championship matches knowing ahead of time Stokes and Isenberg would come out on top.

P.S. I have photos of a lot of the 5A championship matches, if anyone would like to see them. Just email me.
