The information for the 2007 State Folkstyle Wrestling Tournament (Greg Grater Memorial Tournament) has been available for several weeks from the Kansas Wrestling web page. However, the packets were mailed to the club directors / chartered clubs recently. If you do not receive your packet this week, please contact me!! Remember they were sent to CHARTERED CLUBS ONLY!!!!

STATE ADS: If you are wanting to place an ad in the State Program Book - I will need those in my hands NO LATER THAN March 4. I will take everything to the printer on Monday morning. We also offer a special deal in you want to "advertise" on top of the scoreclocks. That information is included in the packet.

STATE PERSON / OFFICIAL / DISTRICT PERSONS OF THE YEAR: I will need photos of those individuals from each district to be included in the program book. I would appreciate any help in getting photos of those to me ASAP!!

MOTELS: Be in contact with your motel and be sure you are working with them in getting the information to them in a timely manner on your room reservations. Release any rooms you know you will not need as soon as you can!

VENDORS IN EXH HALL: Hopefully, we are going to be able to have something "new" this year. During the tournament, we want to open up Exhibition Hall (weigh-in area) for vendors to set-up booths and sale their wares!! However, we do have exclusive rights for our T-Shirt, Wrestling Supplies, Plaques/Awards, and Photos Vendors. If you know someone who would be interested in having a booth at the State Tournament, have them contact either Leanna Grater or Ned Price. No food booths will be allowed because of the contract the Kansas Expocentre has with their supplier!!

We hope this will provide a quieter place to relax away from the wrestling tournament and also give you something else to look at during the day!!

TABLE WORKERS: If you are willing to help with working a table at the State Tournament, contact your District Directors. They are assigned tables and need workers to fill those tables.

If at any time you have questions regarding the 2007 State Tournament, please feel free to call or email me at lgrater@twinvalley.net

Best of luck to each wrestlers and Kansas Wrestling Club as they begin their Quest to the Gold!!

In response to a couple of the earlier questions,

DISTRICT/STATE/OFFICIAL Person of the Year - In the past, we have presented the awards on Saturday morning (first day) of the tournament. However, this year, we are CONSIDERING presenting the awards during the "short break" while we get ready for the finals, which would be Sunday afternoon around 1:00 PM. A final decision has not been made but we will let you know as soon as it is

PLACING: The top 6 in each weight class receive a plaque. The top 2 each receive a bracket -

Just a reminder or heads-up to wrestlers and parents -

WEIGHT: We will be using certified digital scales are weigh-in. We do not give ANY weight like they do at invitationals! There is ONLY a Friday night weigh-in so be prepared!!

HAIR: I've been noticing some "long hair" the past several weeks at invitational tournaments. I would STRONGLY recommended that you make sure your hair length is within the guidelines or you will need to be prepared to have it cut BEFORE you will be allowed to weigh-in.

If you will not cut your hair, then you will be REQUIRED to wear a skull cap!! YES, it will be enforced and you will be marked accordingly so the officials and table workers know when you wrestle!!

FINGERNAILS: Be sure you have taken the time to trim your fingernails before weigh-ins! We will have officials doing the hair and nail checks at the State Tournament -

SKIN PROBLEMS: Make sure you are watching for skin problems also and have the CURRENT appropriate paperwork when you weigh-in if you think there might be a problem.

At the State Tournament, we are not as laid-back as they have been at invitational tournaments.
