Let me try to explain the selection process. The dual's first year was 1988 and then it was the East-West Classic. It became increasingly difficult to get a true east/west match-up, because geographically, state champions could all be from the east or west. The dual is now a big school vs. a small school format and has made selections much easier. The intent was to showcase as many state champions as possible and that was and is the first criteria. If there are no senior state champs, then it follows a logical progression of 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. It would not be impossible, but a very tedious task to determine who beat who in the state to make selections. All state champs qualify, and depending on whether they accept or not will determine the matchups. Contacting the young men and finalizing their appearance is still the most demanding part of the dual. On several occasions wrestlers were invited on the day of the event, because someone didn't show up. I hope this answers some of your questions.

Close, 6-2. a reversal, 3 back, and 1 point for stopping the match in blood time with gienger on his back.

The lineups were posted for a bit ... but I imagine they were preliminary at best! We are still 3 weeks away from this event and historically the KWCA has a hard time getting wrestlers to commit!

As Coach Moore stated earlier, often times they have to make matches the day of the event!

It will be held at 7 pm on March 23rd at the Topeka Expocentre!

To my fellow forum participants:

We are getting the ball rolling on the Senior Classic as we type-finding the people to wrestle is part of it, as well as organizing the entire event. Those that are wrestling should be receiving some sort of notification of selection in a few days.

As Randy stated above we are not even three weeks away yet so give us some time to breathe and make the necesary arangements. It is more fun when you guys get to guessing anyway! Spice the board up a bit and add some humor to my life now that the season is over.

In all seriousness we are getting things rolling and you will now as soon as things are concrete or at least semi-solid! I have no say in who gets picked nor do I know what the line-up is, I am just supposed to find a person to sing the National Anthem among other duties!
