I, as a coach also make a point to make my son take it on the mat away from me. I dont even attempt to coach him during these times.

just like skin forms we need anything that needs an inhaler form also.

Remember another key word in the injury rule. It states injury or "illness." Stoppage for using an inhaler is classified as taking medication for an illness.

Same rules apply as stopping a match for injury. 2 timeouts max. Opponent gets choice of position after 2nd timeout. If match is stopped in near-fall situation, additional near fall point can be awarded.

From the case manual (high school):

8.2.1 SITUATION D:Wrestler A is competing in the first round of a tournament and has an asthma attack. During the time-out, the wrestler takes medication to be able to continue. Is the taking of medication a violation? RULING: No. A wrestler is allowed to take a time-out for an injury or an illness. In the above situation,this would be a time-out for illness and it is permissible for the individual to take medication.

The medication contained in an inhaler is a prescription medication. Use of said medication by other than the person named on the prescription is a violation of state & federal law.
For those of you who feel a need to check.

Skin forms are checked at weigh-in when the need is apparent. There is no apparent need for an inhaler at weigh-ins.
