The hotel/motel rooms are sold out due to KSU commencement ceremonies held on May 11, 2007!

FYI - Clay Center is about 40 minutes away from Manhattan. We do have two motels if it will help anyone out.

Cedar Court (785) 632-2148
Sunrise Motel (785) 632-5611

Of course, there is always the Grater Hotel BUT it is rather expensive!!!

At the Grater Hotel the Bell Boy will pick you up on a four wheeler! So it’s worth the price!

Just to clarify, the weigh-in site is not on the Baldwin High School campus, I just didn't want anybody to be confused.

As you come into town on Hwy 56, turn south at 8th Street and drive two blocks. It is an old stone stand-alone gym with parking in the back, very easy to find.

Call with questions, my home number is 785-594-3481.

I will take your info and weigh you, I will send info to Manhattan Friday night, and you will pay when you arrive in Manhattan on Saturday morning.

Hope there is a great turnout at this tourney!

Reminder-All kids born in 93-94 interested in the national schoolboy team for this summer, need to attend this freestyle portion, unless there are rare and special circumstances. In these cases please call me 913/207-1056. Otherwise see all you schoolboy age kids on the 12th. I agree it should be great tournament.

The following sites have been added as satellite weigh in sites for the May 12 Manhattan FS-GR wrestling tournament. We are allowing this due to NO motel rooms available in the Manhattan area on May 11th.
Rudy Perez District 4 Assistant Freestyle Director will host a satellite weigh in at Norton High School May 11th 8:30pm-9:30pm. All wrestlers in the Norton area are welcome.
Klint Deere of Topeka will host a satellite weigh in on Friday May 11th at Washburn Rural High School at 6pm-7pm. All wrestlers in the Topeka area are welcome.
Thank you RMG

Ed Edison of Wichita will conduct a satellite weigh in for wrestlers in the Wichita area on Friday May 11 at Wichita Northwest High School 6pm.-7pm. We are offering the weigh in as a service for the lack of hotel-motel housing in Manhattan. Thank you RMG

Bob

I would really like to take my son who is a Novice 65lb wrestler to your tournament. Its hard to finds kids his size that wrestle in the summer. If you would mind posting the number of kids at each weight on Friday night after weigh ins it would give us something to help decide where to go on the 12th. The club we wrestle with in Missouri is having the Paulson brothers from Iowa in for a clinic on that day. If he has 3 or more at his weight in your tournament and can get 3-4 matches in each style we will come to your tournament, if not we will go to the clinic and get some mat time that way. I dont want to drive 2 hours to Manhatten for 2 matches at each style against one other wrestler.

If anyone eles is planning on bringing a similiar age/sized wrestler and would like to have someone to wrestle against please post so I can make sure my son is there.

Thanks

Jeff

Jeff,

Its too bad you didnt make the trip to Great Bend this weekend, 24 Kids between 60 and 70 lbs.

There were a total of 135 who wrestled Freestyle and 110 minus 25 or so who scratched out of Greco-Roman.

It was a great mix of Kansas wrestlers from all over the state!

Can't wait for next weekend in ManHattan.

My son is planning to be at Manhattan. He is Novice around 70#. All the Kansas City area tournaments in the past month have had several kids between 65# and 70#. Hopefully some will go over to Manhattan, although MO Freestyle and Greco State is now over so some kids may be done.

I don't know what ages the novice kids are now a days, but my little brother is 10 and weighs around 65/70lbs. My parents haven't had trouble finding any kids around that weight. They have gone to the tournament in Lenexa and Great Bend so far, so I think it depends on what tournaments you go to.

Wanted to thank Kyle Roberts for doing a nice job with the King of the Hill tournament. A really nice mix of kids from all over the state, the facility was nice, concessions cheap and the storm damage sites mesmerizing.

Mr. J. Roberts,
we will not be making the Manhattan tournament as previous stated due to graduations. We will however make it to the Midwest Three Style Nationals in Iowa City at the end of the month.
We had our state tournament this past weekend and qualified at 65 so we will stay at 65 for Regionals and Nationals so we won't have to worry about making weight.

Also want to say that our thoughts and prayers go out to all who were effected by the tornados.
