Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion Kids Folkstyle best camp?

I won two state championships in high school with the snake. It was what I was known for and guesse what? I still say it is a hack move. I'm not saying it shouldn't be in someones bag of tricks. I've just seen too many kids go out on the mat throw the snake, it doesn't work but they hang on to it until they get so far behind that the only way out is to keep throwing the snake. I've also seen kids getting schooled 12-0 throw the snake and win. I personally do not think the better wrestler wins in those matches, and because they win they are encouraged to keep using it. I have never seen the snake used in the NCAA finals at any level. For those who I have offended by belittling the snake...toughen up it is an opinion.

So I still don't get your point! So what your saying is that the headlock and gramby are considered "hack" moves also. Wrestling is all about learning. Making mistakes and moving foward from there. Belittling a move that someone is having success with isn't showing anything. Adam Keiswetter not only showed but proved that the twister works at all levels. As for NCAA finals.........come on! Maybe I'll hit one in the finals next year for you!

I never said the headlock or the granby were hack moves, although I've seen the headlock ruin alot of young wrestlers. I guess my point is that these moves do not need to be shown until the basics are mastered. Learn all the moves you want, pick your flavor of the month, but if you don't have the basics down before learning these it stunts your wrestling growth. This is the youth forum, 6U, 8U, and 10U should not be learning these moves in my opinion. And not to throw gas on the fire, but I would just work on making it to the finals instead of worrying about what move I'm going to use in the finals.

If you are still looking for a summer camp, you won't find another like this. There is still room to sign up but camps are filling. We already have wrestlers/teams signed up from IA, OK, TX, VA, WA, CO, KS, NE, SD, and MN. Our youth camps already have an exceptional line-up with youth state place winners, state champions, Tulsa All Americans. Brute winners, AAU winners as well as high school state place winners, state champions, All-Americans and National Champions signed up for our other camps!

Just wanted to say thanks to all the Kansas boys that showed up to the Chertow camp! It was a fun instructional camp. Sweet thing was the the "snake" was his favorite move. The Kansas boys had a great showing, and I know Chertow was impressed with the way it went. If your still looking for a camp the outdoor challenge camps are good ones to go to!
