Tyler was wrestling 16 and under 110 at Wichitah and he hurt his groin his first or second match and decided not to wrestle any further.

Which Madl are you talking about, there are four of them that wrestled yesterday? I assume you are talking about Tanner Madl. His dad screwed up yesterday and did not get him to the mat on time. Tanner was waiting in line for those wonderful bathrooms they provided at the tournament and dad was trying to get the three other boys into their matches. Tanner got disqualified for that match. He was very upset. He wrestled back three other matches and then lost a close match to Ragnoi of Salina. Saw some great kids in this bracket, Sandell, Ragnoi, Hauser, Hughey, and Kirk.

I imagine you are refering to the Tyler Madl at 14 & under 115. I think Newbil put him in the Banana Splits and tore his groin.

In the semi-finals at the Wichita Classic Glen Newbill of Wyandotte County Kids did defeat Madl 8-4 and did have Madl in the splits for nearly 2/3rd of the match.

TYLER HAD GLENN IN A PETERMANS CLOSE TO PINNING HIM THE REF CALLED A CLEAR FIVE COUNT THEN DID NOT GIVE HIM HIS POINTS. HATE LOSING BECAUSE OF A BAD REF.

It was a horrible call, but the reason he lost is because Newbill wasthe better wrestler on that particular day! I am sure they will see each other again.

Actually Glen had Madl in the splits and managed to work his way on top of Glen... Glen never let go of the splits... In order for the defensive wrestler to receive a reversal there must be a clear change of control and if u was watching this match u must agree the Newbill never let go of the splits therefore Madl was never awarded a reversal... In order to receive nearfall point u must be in control and the reason for the controversy was the fact that the ref did began waving his hand as if he was counting nearfall points... I coach high school matches all season and have noticed this happen several times and points are never awarded prior to a gain or change of control... The guy who refed the match was a good high school ref not one of them !the ref and the Classic ref were TERRIBLE... One of my asst coaches was about to get upset over the same thing but I warned his that a reversal was never given... The best call for that situation was stalemate.

yes madl did work his way on top and turn into him and grab his head pushing his back to a nearfall. the ref didnt act like he was counting he was and admitted it a full five count. just becouse glen had his leg doesnt mean madl cant expose his back and once the ref starts counting assumes madl has control. terrible call

the ref can count till infinity nearfall points can NOT be awarded until control is established... ref wave all the time... for example there are time then someone can get thrown to there back the ref begains to wave and the opponent rolls through.. just because the ref waves don't establish a takedown in that situation... now in the match if the ref called a reversal then took it back i could see your point but Madl never had control throught the entire match until the very end of the third period

the head ref told us after the match was over that giving us a five count would assume control but it was to late to change.

not an insult to you but if you check out your Federation Rule Book it's quite clear that CONTROL is a jugement call and also that CONTROL must be established before nearfall points can be awarded... and dat's the bottom line.

Madl is a good wrestler... Madl beat Glen at high school state and I can tell you that we were up and ready for this match... even after that Glen managed to take Madl to his back again... The best wretler WON!!!

besides there were only about 3 refs at the Classic that I would ever invite to ref a tournament.

your absolutly right nearfall points cannot be awarded without control thats why when the ref gave us afive count we had to be in control he also didnt give us two back points in the third. im tired of this subject. like i said earlier the refs shouldnt determine the match.
