Actually, at least in the state of Kansas, I don't believe at the high school level coaches can go to a game or tournament that they are not involved in and videotape, in any sport...
In football, for example, teams just trade game film...A coach can go scout a team they are playing in the future, but they can't film the game...
Now, that doesn't mean a parent could go tape someone or a team for their personal use, but if a coach were to view that tape, it would be illegal (but who is going to find out?)
In my humble opinion, however, I find it very disturbing that people feel they have to tape their child's opponent to scout them...For college, maybe even high school age kids, that's fine, but for the younger ones, those junior high and younger, I find it appalling...These are KIDS...Let them just go out there and wrestle and do the best they can...A younger kid isn't going to learn squat from watching a scouting tape of a younger opponent...Get a life!
