Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion Other Wrestlers who are Eagle Scouts?

Just curious. Both take a huge time commitment. A local paper just highlighted one football team that has 8 senior players who are Eagle Scouts. Two of those same guys also wrestle. I am interested in any current and past wrestlers who achieved scouting's highest rank.

Shawnee Mission East has 2 that I know of - Matt Baker & Andrew Collingwood.

I wrestled for Colby HS back in 89-90 and earned my Eagle award in 1990.

Koranda, if you remember Joey Mcdowell from Clearwater, he is also an eagle scout.

John Carr, a graduate of SME, wrestled at 160, placed 5th at 2007 6a State and is an Eagle Scout.

I too am curious, LancerLou, what team and what paper? Just would like to read the article and see it. Normally the BSA states that only 1.5% of Scouts earn the highest award in Scouting, so it says quite a bit when 8 do it and play together, just curious as to who they are and where they're from!

The team is Shawnee Mission East and the paper is the Sun. I've included the link, but since I'm new to this, hope it works. The two who also wrestle for SME are Collingwood and Baker.

Joey McDowell is a great kid and an achiever. It does not surprise me that his name would show up on this list. I always loved the heart this kid showed on the mat.
