We are in the 150-Hvy weight division (depending how the tournament breakes it up). I understand that there are very few kids in the upper weight brackets, and breaking them up more would not be practicle, but I wonder if there would be more kids to wrestle if the brackets were not so broad? I have talked to a couple of parents of bigger kids who said their kid did not want to wrestle because he would be giving up 15-20 pounds to some of the other wrestlers. A very good wrestler missed 4 weeks worth of wrestling because he had it in his head that the weight difference was too much and he could not handle the wrestlers. He finally accepted if he wanted to wrestle he had to either lose the 2 pounds or go up, he went up and won the 150 division at Turner. Sometimes it is all a mind game.
