How can posters get on this forum and have any valid argument against the way the kshsaa monitors wrestling? The only people who get on here and complain are probably the same who attend private schools which don't even following the kshsaa regulations anyway. That's all the private schools want. To not have any rules and yet make sure that they stay in the classification that they want so they can win state titles without following the same rules as everyone else. It is ridiculous. How do you explain some schools are always 5a in football, yet 6a in everything else year in and year out? How do you explain a school with the male population of a 4a school, but with very few females, they get to remain 2a?

Then you add the parents of the wrestlers who only care about national exposure and want to wrestle all over the country, but then still compete on the state level but at their own convenience. Pick one. If you don't like the way the state regulates it, put a sign in your yard and move to Pennsylvania where your kid wouldn't even make it to the state tournament.

Be happy with what you have. Support your kid and your school. Support the state in what they do for kids. Let the college coaches determine if your son is good enough for a spot on their team. Be a part of the solution instead of the guy no one will sit around in the stands. The next time you are watching an athletic event, look around and see if anyone is near you. If you are alone, you are the problem.

All in all not a bad effort for his first post. As to the #1 ranked wrestler you will have to be more specific than that, and tell us whose rankings you are using.

Maybe I'm way off the mark here, and not being a follower of 3-2-1A schools, I have to ask, why doesn't Colgan have as much success in wrestling as they do in football? To be honest I didn't know for sure if they even had a wrestling program. It would seem natural for some of that football success to carry over to wrestling.

Ok, thanks! I wondered why they hadn't dominated the sport like they have football. Sounds to me like someone should be working on starting a program there.

Well Brian I didn't want to disappoint you! I can't figure out whether "usedcarsalesman" is proKSHSAA or antiKSHSAA. First he criticizes those who speak out against them and then he complains about how they operate. I am not sure who "used" is trying to single out but I am positive he doesn't work at the autoEXCHANGE! I support Kansas but I don't like oppression, mediocrity, apathy, communism, and socialism.

I'm just curious as to what rules Colgan isn't following. Sounds to me like you have a kid from a given school that doesn't normally have wrestling, is wrestling for another school in a sharing agreement, but he has to wrestle for his school at Regionals and State. Or am I seriously missing something here?

Private schools follow the same rules as public is KSHSAA. If they didn't KSHSAA would do something about it. Period.

Here's an example of Fascism. You may reprint everything you just spouted off on the post, but to be so bold, you must sign your name.

"Used" have you been abused? Who is manipulating the system? What problem am I a part of? Wrestling is for the individual first and the team second. The wrestler who feels better is the one who works the hardest and accomplishes his goals which will help the team accomplish its goals. It is not a sport for a martyrs. I am not sure what company you work for but anytime you are selling something in the free market it is call capitalism. Not sure where you apply communism and socialism to that situation. Maybe you were too busy sacrificing and being a team player that you didn't get the education you were looking for. I am not speaking out against the state only against an organization that seeks to level the playing field by pushing the top down instead of bringing the bottom up. The same organization that doesn't support the pursuit of excellence and has ruined the annual gathering of all wrestling fans by splintering our biggest event into four different locations. This organization has purchased its awards from the same company for at least 25 years without putting their needs up for bid. This organization seeks to control every facet and doesn't care to adapt to changes in society. This organization fails to consider what would bring the greatest good they only seek to confuse us with ambiguous rulings and broad interpretations instead of black and white answers. My tax dollars pay for this organization so I have a right to speak out against it and seek ways to make changes. "Used", if you are coming after me, keep it coming. I don't sit alone in the stands and if my kid ever makes it to the top of the podium with or without others from his team he and I will not be suffering from a shortage of friends and supporters.

Ditto, if calling out a parent, team, kid, or whatever, sign your name. I thought there was a rule, guide or something like that on these forums?????

Just like any set of rules, there will always be those with very little character, class and integrity who will seize any opportunity to cheat their way to the top. Barry Bonds anyone? For you to accuse the state of "oppression, mediocrity, apathy, communism and socialism," makes you part of the problem. You are only concerned with your kid and his individual situation. It's why he'll have a hard time ever being a good teammate or a integral peice of a championship team. He is being taught to concern himself only with his needs, wants and goals. Not a group effort. He'll know nothing of sacrificing his own goals for those of a team and the satisfaction you receive from doing that. I wonder which athlete feels better after the season, the wrestler who had to change weight classes because he has a state champ on his team at that weight and in doing so, only qualified for state instead of placing which allowed his team to win the state championship? Or the state champion wrestler who is standing on the podium with only a handful of family to watch because he was the only wrestler from his team to make it to the tournament?
Communism and Socialism? Aren't those the two tenets that our system of selling used cars is based on?

Used,

Calling out someone behind anonymity is the act of a coward. Also, the last time I checked, car salesmen were capitalists and not interested in common ownership like not-for-profit organizations. Check your communism and socialism definitions.

Did I miss the part where he called out a parent, team or kid? Maybe he called out a "whatever"?

It seems that the original argument was based on not questioning the system or the rules, and like it or not going with the flow (how was the USA founded by the way?), then usedcarsalesman, goes into a rant against private schools which are just as much a part of the KSHSAA as anyone else. You can't say follow all the rules and don't question, then question a major part of the system.

As far as kids and families working the system, and not being part of the team, you have no clue...many of these families and kids you are calling out, are the same ones putting together TEAMS to teach kids the very thing you have stated they know nothing about. Helping teach and promote wrestling in Kansas, and have done countless deeds for others you don't even know about.

Not sure why this thread started, but it appears an anonymous poster wanted to wage a public vendetta against someone or a group of people. I should point out several factual inaccuracies-the political references are botched and the statement that private high schools in KS do not follow the same rules as public high schools is incorrect. Where did this information come from? By the way, to our friend usedcarsalesman, one of the fundamental disrinctions in our society is freedom of speech and the ability to question our governmental processes and to seek redress against those governmental agencies if we so choose. This sets us apart historically from those societies that are here misstated. So, if you choose to criticize those who question our establishment and peacably ask for reform, then, by implication, you do not support your own political system, whether you understand it or not.
