I understand that the "initial" plans for a new 9,000 seat ARENA in Olathe were UNANIMOUSLY approved on Tuesday 4-21 by council members though it seems there are still hoops yet to jump through for it to be a GO. The developers are hoping for a special sales tax incentive (STAR Bonds) to help defray the overall cost of the $273 million $$ project. It appears the area to possibly be developed at I-35 and 119th junction would include a large retail complex. The STAR Bonds are key in getting this going but Olathe seems primed if Legislative approval OK's the special tax incentive and things are looking up as they (council) are now in stages where they are even lining up possible management groups for the arena (one of which is the son of Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf). .....Let's all in the Kansas Wrestling Community keep our fingers crossed as it would certainly be great to have another large venue to compete in.
