Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School KSHSAA rule question.

Many teams are open next weekend and have only a dual or two left on their schedule before the League tournament. There have been about 7 weekends of tournaments with at least 3 or 4 duals for each team. That puts most kids around 30 matches.

I have not heard of a varsity player not being able to finish a game either because of the 5 quarter rule. However, I have seen many cases where a player does not play the entire first quarter because they played a couple of quarters earlier that day. I also have seen players who only played maybe 1 or 2 minutes per quarter not be able to play JV because it doesn't matter how many minutes you play in a quarter, it still counts. I have also seen some JV games where a team is hurt by this rule. (in girls, freshman play first, followed by varsity and finally JV. JV can get kinda scary with almost everyone already having used 4 quarters and a team is in foul trouble. In fact, I did see one school in our league finish playing their JV game with only 4 girls due to the 5 quarter rule and some girls fouling out.)
