It was a huge deal NewWrestlingDad, this was my son's first novice tournament ever. He had to wrestle open all year due to Church Committments & got his little butt kicked pretty good most of that year. Desire to win from the kid or the parents is not something that you have to pay your dues to have. I think that any parent that spends the time & money that most of us spend are crazy if they do not care if there kid wins expecially at the Novice Championship tournament in Derby. This is as level of a playing field that you will probably ever have in this sport IMO. Good luck
