We saw some great wrestling yesterday in Effingham. My son was in a 5 man round robin. First and fifth place were easy to determine, but technically there was a three-way tie for second with two wins and two losses for each wrestler.

They opted to base the decision only on near fall points, leaving my son with fourth. Interestingly enough the second place wrestler (according to near fall points) is one of the kids my son beat. My son had the majority of overall points, but lacked backpoints.

I know this doesn't affect his record, only wins/losses, just curious to know how this is usually handled. When questioned, we were told this is standard, but later in the afternoon learned that they were then using total points as a deciding factor for the older kids.

Really glad there is some exciting competition for our great wrestlers...
