To: Steve Miller (Manhattan High 145lbs.)
To my little brother I just want to congratulate you on one of the best careers for any wrestler at your high school in the history of the program. With the wins in this weekends state tournament wins you passed me in career wins (I believe) and are now in the company of guys like Matt Bradshaw and Shawn Bammes. I cannot express the joy I got from watching you four the last four years. I know you don't show it (and a true champion doesn't) the pain of not completing your goals as planed out in your head, just remember there are many guys out there feeling the same, I to have felt the exact same way. I have always looked up to as a wrestler but after this weekend I look up to as the man you have become. In whatever the next few months brings with Nationals and Graduation cherish it and enjoy it. To whatever decide to do after high school whether it be going to school to wrestle or just going to school to further your education I know you will do great.

Much Love

From: Mike Miller (Manhattan High Graduate 05)

P.S.
To the seniors at Manhattan I knew when you guys wrestled with me as freshman that all of you would do great things. I just didn't know you guys would do what you did and totally eclipse my expectation for you guys. Congrats!

Agreed. Good post big brother. I like who Steve battled back and dominated for third. We are know some that were in his position (expected to be in the finals) and when they don't get to the finals - have a total 'melt-down'. Good job keeping it together and battling hard for third. I enjoyed watching you wrestle the few times I saw you. Good luck.

When you lose in the quarters and you have to wrestle ALL the way back, it is so hard to stick around and watch the semis, and to go back to the hotel thinking that you could of done it. But battiling back deffinatley does take some character.

With boys (young men) like this how can you go wrong! I would like to thank my two sons’ for 15 years of great memories. The 4 a.m. wake up calls, the half of million miles traveled and all the great people encountered over years. While things did not finished as hoped and dreamed, the effort of all that has contributed to Steve’s success over the years is greatly appreciated. There are a few people that I would personally like to give thanks too for what so far that has been some of the most enjoyable times in my life.

Ned Price… for getting us started.
Troy Munsch… for establishing the base set of skills.
Kyle McKabe and Capt. Jerry Thomas… teaching the little “secrets”
Coach “Rocky” Welton… for mentoring Coach Lee Woodford and making him one the best all-time high school coaches in the game.
Kirt and Kelly Baker for lending us Travis!
Matt Gilliand for being his Coach and best friend!
All the Coaches, Staff and Teachers at MHS.
Coach Gonzo… for being a Coach, mentor and friend to Steve.
Ron Tacha… for being the “Godfather” of Manhattan Wrestling.

And last but not least all the young men/women that we have competed against… the great people of Kansas Wrestling. I know there are many more and I could go on for days but I need to go before I get all emotional! Why is this the greatest sport on Earth? The people!

Thanks everyone!
Mark Miller

Congrats to your son Steve on a fine season. I always looked forward to seeing him wrestle and visiting with you whenever our towns were competeng in the same arena. It's been a long time since back in the day at NCKAVTS, but wrestling has given us the opertunity to stay in touch. Dont be a stranger, hope to see you around some of the tournaments in the future. Good luck to you and both of your sons!

To the whole Miller family,

It was an honor for me to be included in some of those late night practices, long talks about life, and for just allowing me and my family to be a part of yours. For the last 4 years I have watched the last kid I had coached at MOKWC wrestle and get tougher and tougher each year, sometimes I was happy an if he beat a sabetha kid a little upset.

Little Stevie has always been a hard working young man with a great smile and attitude. I am happy that he fought his way back and showed that he has the heart of a champion.

Congrats Stevie!!!
