Does anyone know if the brackets will be posted in advance for the 6U wrestling in McPherson? They have their brackets up now but only for the 8U and up.

I'm gonna bite. There is no 6U division at McPherson. 8U and up only.

That is weird. also it shows age as of 9/1/05 Could be an oversight or something like that but i didn't think that 6U was a District age group.

Then I was bamboozled out of $12 when signing my son up yesterday.

Don't know if it's a District age group or not. Might just be McPherson trying to give the kids one last tournament to wrestle which I am grateful for since my son was sick for Chapman.

I am from McPherson and we are having a 6 & under championship tournament. We have had one every year for a while now. Good luck to all.

i am really confused now. we have 3, 6 and under championship tournaments in kansas now why would any one want to add 6 and unders to the 8 and above venue, heck they have 1 championship the 6 and unders have 3. has to be the first i have ever heard of such a thing. i am having a mental break down trying to sort this out help pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

right above my post teresa says there having a 6 and under championship in mcpherson says they have one every year, i thought it was districts as well.

got it now only ones from that distict can enter makes sense now. my breakdown is over.

District 4 used to have a 6U championship at Districts but they stopped a few years ago.

Why don't EVERY district just add this to their event (subs & districts are not that long of a day anyway) and then just add them to the state event and save everyone from a breakdown?
We split the state event and put the 6U on Sunday! That way we don't have kids wrestling up a weight.
You don't have kids running from Subs to Ottawa (trying to make weight again).
We can all come together as one organization and decide who the best of the best is, in every age group, all at the same time!

This is the right thing to do!

Any word on any sort of bracket for the 6U kids? Or even a list of kids signed up? I was curious to see who my son will be going up against.

Alright here's the scoop, a few years ago it was decided by the State executive board for each district to host a 6 and under championships to give the young wrestlers closure for their season. At the time District II always did it at their District tournament. The board thought it might be a good way for the 6 and unders to end their season and not have the 6 and unders added to the State tournament. After that was decided, Ottawa started their 6 and under State. Some of the other districts never have added it. District III did. Every year it is voted on at our District meeting whether District III will continue having the 6 and under championships. So far it has always been voted to keep it. To answer your question on the brackets, there aren't very many entries. I planned on not adding them to Trackwrestling because all that information is to be forwarded on to the State tournament. I'm afraid it might cause more confusion. I can provide a list of the entrants. At this point it's kind of dissapointing, as I said there aren't very many.
