Our own Joe Bach commits to Wrestle at the University of Oklahoma! He joins area recruit Dylan Joiner in the signing class for the Sooners. Congrats to the beast from Liberal!

Awesome. Congratulations to Joe and the Bach family. It is well deserved and good luck on your college wrestling career.
Just out of curiousity, do you know if Joe will be wrestling 197 or heavyweight?

I know the NCAA considered bumping up some of the upper weights to narrow the 197 to 285 gap or to add a weight in between. It would be more difficult for them to add a weight in between. They had a survey of NCAA coaches and refs this year and those two questions were part of it. The majority of the coaches did not favor making the weight changes at this time. I believe the majority of the refs did though.
I was hoping that the NCAA would bump 184 and 197 to look more like our high school 189 and 215 by at least bumping 197 to the 212 international weight level. That might have been a good weight class in college for Joe. Although I think he will do very well as a heavyweight too. This was a good year for heavyweight recruits, Joe at OU, Atticus at Minnesota and Steve Andrus at Michigan State. I also think Duane Zlatnick could have gone D-I in wrestling if he had not chosen football instead. Congratulations to all of them.

Thanks for the support and goodWill. We are excited about this opportunity for Joe. He is to wrestle heavyweight, for which he is glad, as "weght watching" is now over.

Joe Congratulations - A opportunity that is very deserving. You have been exciting watch the last couple of years. And I'm sure that your parents are very proud. And good luck to all the rest who are moving on to the next stage. I think that this years group of kids are some of the finest, having watched them progress through the ranks of the 6 & under bracket to where they are now. I bet there has been allot of old tapes watched the last few weeks.
