The Burlington Wrestling Club is excited to announce the start of a new summer wrestilng league. It will be called the Southeast Kansas Takedown League.
It will be held at the Burlington High School Wrestling on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The first night will be Tuesday, June 3rd and will run for 5 weeks through Tuesday, July 1st. The fee for the league is $35 which includes a t-shirt and insurance coverage.
The League is open to wrestlers in Grades 3 through 12 for the 2008-2009 school year. We will be working on 3 mats, and we will limit the enrollment to the first 75 wrestlers that mail-in completed enrollments.
Each night we will weigh-in, warm-up, stretch, takedown drill, have a 20-minute technique session, and 50 minutes of takedown competition.
We will cover the starting technique of 4 different takedown series including fireman's carry, slide-by, low-single and sweep single. Each week the takedown competitions will be a different activity and will culminate with a Takedown Tournament the last night.
Eric Luedke will make a guest appearance the final evening as well, and he will be showing the start of his sweep single series!!
