Well I was just in Arkansas over the weekend and I have some grandkids that live there and they go to a private school and before you say thats diffent lisen to what I have to say, In lowell Arkansas the high school has football,basketball and other sports just like our schools do and there first fooball game will be in Louisiana and will be on fox sports network. I am not sure if you know it but wrestling has taken hold in Arkansas and doing well but first off there fuel there and here are about the same in cost and if the schools want to be good then the people that live in Kansas need to start helping pay for the kids to be able to travel to other Schools and enjoy sports like other states do and belive me thats the only way to keep sports from dieing out in the schools of Kansas.
Hiawatha Kansas has only two sports that the booster club helps the rest are just there and I bet most schools are the same way.
The last two years we have had at lease one wrestler at state and yet the school will not send cheerleaders because it cost to much. Whats the anser to the high cost of travel is we need to get the parents to help pay for fuel and belive me four
years in high school goes by real fast and our school voted to not let two other schools in the big seven because its two far to travel well parents you spend money every week durring wrestling to take your kids to a meet and love what your child does so why not spend a few dollars when there in high school, belive me its money well spent. They have some kind of sports going on all year round and last year we were in Branson and watched a middle school from Arkansas play in a basketball tournament and belive me they would beet a lot of girls teams in the big seven.
I like a lot of people see schools spend money that should not be spent and when the schools pay supentendents a 100,000 dollars a year and give them a car to drive home or any where they want and buy gas for them to its very hard to understand why we should have to pay for the kids sports, well the anser is there your kids and they should have not only your love but help to be the very best they can be in any sport. hope to see you at the wrestling meets this and other sports as well.
