Not that I really disagree, but how does a reduction in the number of state tournaments affect the quality of Kansas wrestling? Are kids slacking off in the practice room because they only have to win 4A or 5A?

Clearly with less state tournaments, there would be increased competition the last two weeks for some wrestlers, but there would be an elimination of quality mat time for others. The regular season competition would not be affected.

"Watered down" or not, I think Roberson's and Kriegbaum's and Maynes' 4 time state championships (and all the others) have been a positive for Kansas wrestling, and I don't hope to go the next 40 years without any 4 timers.
