We are going to be back in KS the weekend of Jan. 3 and my son Austin would like to wrestle the Vally Center Open. The question I have is would he have to have a USA card or is there some type of waiver I can sign so I wouldn't have pay the 25+entry for the one tournament. He used to wrestle for Newton before we moved to Ohio. Thanks for the help.

If you have a current USA card from Ohio you will not need to get one for Kansas. However, if you dont have a current USA card you will need to get one. In that case maybe your old club (Newton)can help you with that.

Here in Ohio we don't have to have a USA card. I was just being a cheap skate and trying to save some money. I also heard USJOC is the same weekend so the boy will have to make up his mind on which he would like to go to. Thanks

Why does Ohio not need the wrestlers card and Kansas does?

If you participate in a USA Wrestling sanctioned tournament in Ohio you will need a USAW competitors card.

If you participate in an AAU sanctioned tournament in Ohio you will need an AAU membership card.

There may be additional tournaments in Ohio which are not insured and do not require a membership card from either organization.

Your right. I have filled out the forms to get his card because we are going to try and make Tulsa were I know he will have to have his USAW card. There are only a couple of tounaments that require a USA or AAU card here in Ohio. The kids that wrestle are covered under the club insurance when they go to a tounament which don't require a card of any type. I'm not in anyway or form bashing on KS wrestling, we miss KS wrestling and the people that we got to know while we were there, I was just trying to save a couple of dollars and give the boy a chance to wrestle with some of his friends when we are there for Christmas. I would like to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.

Tulsa Nationals doesn't require a USAW card. TN is an open tournament and below is part of their filer info.



You are correct about USJOC needing a USAW card.
