Derby moves down a spot despite the fact they have beat both teams ahead of them head to head and split their varsity team up and won two tournaments over the weekend.
OUCH!!!

I agree, for some reason, I think Coach Ross will use this to motivate his team even more. I would like to hear the reasoning for this. When it comes to wrestling Derby in the future: Watch out!

It is strictly a point system based on the rankings. A combination of moves changed the top 3. Madl moving to #1 at 140, Uylesses moving up at 112, Dalton Maier moving in at 140 and a few other changes.

1. Goddard - 144
2. Wichita Heights - 134
3. Derby - 122

Chief;
When you have head to head to measure team strength, I would go off that. Just like when you have head to head to set the individual rankings.
All three teams are strong for sure and if I was Bishop Carrol I would be worried about that duel streak with Heights on their schedule later this season...

Oldfan,

A dual meanings nothing in these rankings. These are predictions for the results of an INVIDUAL state tournament not a dual team state tournament. In addition, the rankings take into consideration ONLY the individuals for that classification so even if Derby finishes ahead of Goddard in their invitational it wouldn't mean that they would in the state tournament where the competition is different. It is just simple math.

That's flawed reasoning. Dual team strength vs. Tournament strength are quite different.

Example:

Means, Houlden, Caldwell and 189, outscored Derby 15-6 in the dual. With Boaz in at 189, the difference in a tournament might be 75 points or more.

Clearly, a wrestler winning State or finishing in the top 4 will provide a higher point differential than a kid going 1-2 vs. 0-2. It really is simple math.

Those top 3 teams will have a great battle at State. Hope they are all at full strength! Any one of those teams could win it all.

6A ranking's have been updated with the exception of 119. That weight will be corrected.

119 will be:

1. Vesta - MH
2. Davis - WH
3. Miller - WC
4. Amaro - MZ
5. Neal - ON
6. Whitmore - SMNW
7. Petrie - BVNW

It's Reece Wright-Conklin now and he's expected to wrestle after the break. It's the Junior High deal in Lawrence.

I seen that Chase Nelson from Heights went to 160. Will he be changed in the rankings?

He only went down to wrestle Detmer. He'll be at 171 for State.

Thoughts on toughest weight? At first glance, I would say 125.

125 and 215. Caylor is the best wrestler but there are some athletes below him, all seniors. Dap will have his hands full. He will have to go through both Tanenbaum and Lawrence to get his second state championship. His regional will be tough as well.
