I do know from my clinics, that parents are selecting tournaments that give the "most bang for the buck!" I am not sure (but will start asking) how much our economic instability has to do with those decisions!
I also know, that a few of "my" high school athletes, are reluctantly giving up wrestling because of the time commitment on Saturdays!
I assure you, that I initially claimed BS like many of my colleagues would. But after a bit of time and asking a few questions, I have come to a different understanding. There ARE kids in Kansas that have to work to aid their families. It is getting increasingly harder to argue with a youngster who says ... "I have to work!"
