After reading all of the posts by cokeley about wanting to wrestle the best why isn't he making his son do that at derby? Since 135 has Maple,Tovar, Mocomb and oliver why isn't he bumping up? I see that 130 isn't bad, but its not the same as 135 with those kids. KSHSAA mandates that one half or more of your weigh ins at the weight you will compete at in the state tournament. Ryne and his coach reviewed the schedule at the beginning of the year and it was/is as follows: Gardner 130 SMNW 135 (wrestled McComb) JoCo 130 Derby 130 (we thought Nitcher would be there) Bobcat 135 Holton 135 GC 130 (there are three 2x SC's in this bracket) Diamond 130/5 Reg 130 State 130 There you have it. I don't make him do anything. He and his coach work it out. Frankly the comment is a little irritating.

To TheBest: Concerning Cokeley, come on..Ryan wrestles more quality wrestlers then everyone put together..He wrestled cadet duels & fargo last summer that I know of..And placed 2nd in freestyle & 3rd in greco at fargo(I think)..He has nothing to prove or gain by going UP to 135..If the 135#drs want to wrestle him they need to go down to 130..

Hey I relize how good cokeley is and that he could very easily be the best in the state right now any age. The point that I was saying is the best kids are at 135 this week for him to wrestle. Mr. Cokeley I understand the KSHSAA stuff and its very stupid I just wanted to know why he wasn't at 135 since the better kids are up. Since you want him to wrestle the best that are state allows.

Agreed that Ryan has nothing to prove, the comment against Mr. Cokley was out of line. The best weight is the 160 bracket, I am looking forward to seeing this weight.
Big ol boys just aren't all that fast, and Yellow and Black is where it is at.

There is like 5 state placers I think at 130 as well. I agree with Big Steve 160 is the toughest. Cokeley should have bumped up to 160.
Ryne seeks out more competition than any kid in the state period. He is the only KS kid to go to the Super 32. He went on a team and wrestled in California, he goes to fargo, on and on and on. Enough said.

He explained the 50% rule on weigh-ins. Now you know why, right?

Don't try backtracking. You said something stupid, now apologize and move on. Ryne's record speaks for itself. He doesn't dodge anyone. The Cokeley Nitcher matchup would have been worth the price of admission. Now the Nitcher Deshazer matchup will be, as well as Detmer-Nelson, and the winner of that versus Caldwell, assuming Caldwell doesn't get surprised.
If you have a beef with Mr. Cokeley, just say it. Or better yet, call him and tell him why you don't like him.

Mr. Cokely has helped kansas wrestling so much its ridiculous how people try to put him down any chance they get. I really do appreciate all the things he has done for kansas wrestling and encourage everyone to help him in his ventures, such as the travel out of state rule.

I was really hoping to see Jake Cole 215 BC wrestle Hicks and Johnson as well. I heard he is injured. Any word on how serious?

103 Will be a good finals match between Waters (AC) and Windam (Derby). 119 Moeder and Cornado both get beat in quarters Sparr (RH) vs Jones(AC) in finals. 125 Deshazer gets taken to edge be Greenlee (GC) but wins semi and Rose gives Nitcher a tough match but loses. 130 Cokely makes in through with ease. Biddle (AC) beats Holden (Goddard)in last seconds to make finals 160 Detmer loses to Nelson in OT on tough call, can Nelson hang with Caldwell??
Just a couple of highlights from todays actions.

I think the NASA super computer is on the fritz again!! here's the rest of my post lol I also did not see Westmorelands name of the original list of entries. I thought Anderson was wrestling for Derby. Westmoreland got pinned by the Carroll kid? I also think that Hicks & Johnson will be a goods finals at 215. They both blew thru the other guys. Hicks had 2 pins & a 10-3 victory. I was just hoping to see more ranked 215 kids at this event.

Everything seems to be running on time if not a little ahead of schedule. All of the Derby boys that wrestled first round this morning pinned their guys.
