I have been making my case for Garden City being the TOUGHEST tournament in Kansas and here is the supporting data! Derby has passed and Newton is this weekend but neither of them sport a bracket like this one:

When the dust settles there will be no argument, 15 ranked teams and a bunch of ranked individuals make this, hands down, the TOUGHEST KANSAS HOSTED tournament in 2009.

I will work up the other weights as well but when you invite 10 out of state teams including three number 1’s, a number 2 and a handful of others that are ranked and throw them in with Kansas’ #1 5A team you are going to have some super brackets. I can’t wait!

Will, what weight is Himmelman/CO at? Guessing 125? If not, 130 just got even tougher!!

Is El Reno going to be there this year, they were scheduled to be there last year but pulled out at the last minute. They are ranked 2nd in Oklahoma class 5 and have a couple individuals that are ranked first in their weight classes.

El Reno was listed early but did not show up on the official invitation letter. Not sure what the deal is. That would just add to the toughness!

I would like to be a fly on the wall at this seeding meeting!!!! It is going to be a dog fight before it even starts!!!

The seeding meeting actually goes very smoothly. When there are so many good kids, you just establish your criteria and go with it.

Multiple State champs from the same weight will jam it up a bit.
