Just trying to figure out why Wichita Heights is still ranked 2nd when they have been beat by the 4th ranked team both head up and in a tournament.

Wichita Heights has 5 ranked wrestlers vs. Junction City's 4. They have 3 #1 ranked wrestlers vs. Junction City's 1. This is a State tournament scenario and not a mid-season tournament scenario.

Here is more clarity, because it's a good question!

The Junction City tournament gave us:

Junction City - 146 points
Wichita Heights - 128 points

Junction City placers:
112 - Isaac Ruiz - 1st
130 - Lance Maldanado - 1st
140 - David Miller - 4th
145 - Dillon Charland - 1st
152 - Gary Crumpton - 3rd
160 - Evon Royal - 1st
215 - Gage Knudson - 2nd

Wichita Heights placers:
112 - Uylesses DeShazer - 3rd
125 - Daniel DeShazer - 1st
135 - Kendric Maple - 1st
160 - Hunter Jameson - 3rd
171 - Chase Nelson - 1st

In my opinion, in a State tournament scenario Wichita Heights still gets those 3 champions and JC gets just 1. Take away JC's 140, 152 and 215 placings as well as WH's 160 placing AND add back in a 119 and 145 for WH. That's the difference.

Junction City has Improved!!!!! They are good!!! They are well Coached and again... Tough as could be and I have a lot of respect for their program... However,

Junction City beat Wichita Heights in a dual when Wichita Heights had 3 opens.

Junction City beat Wichita Heights at the Junction City tournament when Wichita Heights only took

Varsity - 112, 125, 135, 145, 160, 171, HWT
J.V. - 130, 140, 152
OPEN - 103, 119, 189, 215

Shawnee Heights 175
Junction City 146
Northwest 130
Wichita Heights 128

Do you think it would have been possible for Wichita Heights to make up the 18 point difference between 4th and 2nd if we would of had our varsity 103, 119, 130, 140, 152, 189, 215 pounders there.. Especially since our 119 pounder is ranked in the top 3 in the state? Might it have been possible that we could of made up the 48 point difference from 4th to 1st if we have those 7 weights??? No disrespect Chad smile

Just asking a rhetorical question????? smile Have a blessed day

i would have to agree with michael church on this one..heights has a pretty solid team and almost all of those weights that they were missing brings points to their team..
