Who has the most pins?

Who has the most wins?

Who is still undefeated?

And, can Chief make a ranking for this? hahahaha ;-)

I have only been to the Newton tourney and the JC tourney this year, so based on my limited exposure - I'd have to say Maple also.

Those undefeated boys from Colby were very impressive to.

Maple or Napier seems to be worthy candidates, but I'd have to see them compete to get a better take on the matter.

Caldwell, Detmer & Nelson have provided some of the best wrestling matches so far this year. On a given night, it seems that any wrestler could prevail. Kudos to these guys for seeking each other out. Great matches - a real gift to the fans of wrestling! I'd like to see how Watson would fare against these guys, or for that matter Arnberger.

Bo Beard! He's gonna be pretty hard to beat at 6A state at 189 lbs., or for that matter, at any class at 189 lbs. He may not rival Romero Cotton in his dominance, but it's pretty close.

Bo would get my nod, but, of course, my perspective is admittedly limited, in that I havn't had a chance to take a look at too many wrestlers this year - which brings to mind a long-held hope: let 'em all compete at the same venue at state, and let the fans and the wrestlers take a good look.

I have attempted to rank them before on a previous post. I can tell you that the wrestler that has had some great wins and is looking much more comfortable at his higher weight as well as filling into that weight physically is..... Tyler Caldwell. I'm not saying he is #1 but having beaten Detmer and Nelson, pinning Rempe, beating Wuthnow 16-3 and winning the KCI classic while running the table this year, he is on a roll. My previous ranking had C.J. Napier #1. He has done nothing to give that spot up in my opinion and joins an elite group of Kansas wrestlers that will make a splash on the National scene. Another wrestler that has not had the limelight but is certainly recognized as having a dominant HS career is Chris Watson. If Caldwell, Detmer, Watson and Nelson were at the same weight, on any given day any of those guys could stand at the top of the podium.

Now for the hard part. There are plenty of beasts in Kansas that could make this list but in my opinion the Fab 7 are:

In Alphabetical order only!:

Boaz Beard
Tyler Caldwell
Kyle Detmer
Kendric Maple
C.J. Napier
Chase Nelson
Chris Watson

Arguments can be made for MANY others that could crack this opinionated list!

You know its hard to pick a pound for pound guy so I would look at records and how they have dominated their own weight class.
So when you say "on any given day this guy could beat this guy" I don't think that shows up as dominating.
So I think that Boaz dominates his weight more then any other so that my pick.
SO MANY PEOPLE COULD ARGUE SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS SO ITS ALL JMO!

BLT,

The strength of the weight class determines the level of domination.

i would say that caldwell gets the nod, simply because he has wrestled at four different weights now and has had the most significant jump in classes (from 112 to 160).

And, possibly has beat the most defending state champs this year? I think of his beating Nelson and Detmer for example. Any more defending state champs he has beaten this year? Anybody else beats as many or more defending state champs this year?

that's what i'm saying, he came up in weight and i didn't think he would be strong enough to handle detmer or nelson the way he has, they have been good matches, but i thought that he would probably get beat. i don't think beard could have gone up and beat cotton, a year ago. did he wrestle elliot last year? look at what happened to tyler koehn last year when he tried to wrestle up, he was just not big enough to handle beard or elliot. caldwell has done that and been successful so far. i say its
1 caldwell
2 napier
3 maple
4 watson
5 beard
6 detmer
7 nelson
napier, maple, and watson have adaptive styles, meaning their styles can change to the competition better than the others. detmer would have been a state champ a year ago had he been able to adapt better. i'm not sure beard has seen the level of competion that the others have, week in and week out. i also think another name here could be kenneth ornelas, i think he is strong enough to wrestle up a weight class or two and have similar success, again jmo.

Do not dismiss the season that Beck Arnberger has put together this year. His and Ryan Taylors epic triple overtime match in NWK league tournament was one of the best battles I have seen in wrestling.

i wouldn't say Nitcher is the top candidate, but with a record of 42-0 i think he deserves to be in the runnings.

I am going to have to go with tyler caldwell on this one.
