Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School When are HS JV wrestlers allowed to join

their local club team? I have been told two differant things, 1) after regionals and 2) after state.

I would have to say not until after next weekend when the high school season is officially over. Per kshsaa part

If they are not practicing with the HS team then they can do kids club I would think. If they are still going to practice then they couldn't.

I have not looked into the KSHSAA handbook before answering this, but they can not compete or practice with kids and school team at the same time. If their season is over, they can go to kids, but they can not come back into the high school room. Having said that, I personally believe that every kid should practice with their school team as long as they are needed as a work out partner. If that means through the state tournament, so be it. I think that it is selfish to look at it any other way.

i'm almost sure the rules is once they are done practicing with the high school team they are free to compete kids regardless of whether the varsity season is still going on. have to be careful with this though because i saw a situation in baseball where a kid played jv and started with his summer team after the jv season was over. due to an injury the varsity team had a spot for him on their roster at state but he couldn't go because he had already begun practice with his summer team.

I thought the High School had to release them. Stating there done with wrestling
