I won't argue against Maple. He is an incredible wrestler and young man. I will say that "No doubt, Maple is the most outstanding wrestler in 6A." is pretty bold. Tyler Caldwell did beat the 5A champ, 6A runner up at 171, pinned the 321A state champ, majored the 4A runner up and 3rd place finisher. He also went undefeated winning some dang tough tournaments. Boaz didn't get to wrestle as many studs from other classes, but was equally as dominant. It's too bad that this award only goes to one guy, but it's equally as cool that I doubt all three of these young men care too much about it. The great ones usually do not.

With all of the negativity on this board, I'd like to say that I feel like the wrestlers from all of the teams displayed a lot of class and honor this weekend. I saw many, many more acts of good sportsmanship than of poor. It's an emotional sport, and kids will sometimes make mistakes. Let's not dwell on that, but celebrate all of the great young men and their dedication to the greatest sport on earth.
