Our Kids Constitution provides that if a wrestler is "officially ejected" from a tournament then he can't participate for 8 days. The wrestler mentioned (and I don't think it is right to mention an 8 year old kids name on the web site, in fact our constitution states that when talking about a minor we shouldn't use their name) was disqualified from his match. There is no quesiton about that. However, he was not officially ejected. No where do we have a rule that states that a disqualified wrestler must be ejected. For whatever reason, the ref at the mat did not eject him from the tournament but simply disqualified him. The tournament directors did not fill out a disqualification form either. Could the ref ejected him? I wasn't there but from what I have heard the ref would have been within his right to eject him. But the fact is that the ref choose not to do so. Could the tournament directors have ejected him? They probably could have come down harder than the ref but the fact is that they did not do so. I applaud both the ref and tournament directors for looking at the whole situation and realizing they were dealing with an 8 year old child who was throwing a fit. They took action and took away his trophy. They didn't use a sledge hammer when a fly swatter would do. This wrestler caught a big break by not being ejected and consequently missing state. I am not excusing his actions but simply explaining why he will be wrestling at sub-districts.
