Henry Gallett is the new Dist. Dir., Denise Hanson from Turner is the new North Sub Dir. and Mike Brown remains at the South Sub Dir.
South Sub is at Pittsburg
North Sub is at Holton.
Nobody either wanted or had large enough facilities to host district. Three locations were brought up that might be able to have it. Baldwin, Mid. Am Nazarene (Olathe), and Shawnee Heights in Topeka.
The challenge of districting is now becoming more and more of an issue. Out west they do not want to become larger because of the travel, but in the east we have become so large that only a few schools have the facilities that can host Subs or Districts. The large facilities around K.C. say their costs to get the large facilities is $2500.00 or more. It was decided that these 3 options were be firmed up and we would vote on them at the state meeting in two weeks.
Split format at State was discussed with interest but not alot of support. Everyone would still have to be there for two days, and the quick turn time for next matches might be too quick in the wrestle backs. And at this level no kid should lose because he has wrestled 3 matches in 1 1/2 hours and he has to wrestle again against someone coming from the front that hasn't wrestled for several hours.
