Interesting observation if I read the brackets correctly. Beard, KS 189 going to Nebraska, wins 3rd place. Barrett, from Nebraska, 189, wrestling for 1st. Do not think they wrestled--must have been on opposite sides of the bracket. Wonder where Barret is going to college--surely he will wreastle!

Nasty, I agree that was a great year. however, wresting in 1992 and wrestling now are a lot different. These kids are way better, this tournament is bigger, tougher, and BADA$$!!! These men are legit. Have a great day

I thought Beard was committed to Iowa State, but I could be wrong.

I don't know a thing about Barret. If you know his first name just put it in google and you'll probably find out the info you want.
IE. Pretend I want to know about a wrestler named Ricky Bobby. I would simply type into google like this:
Ricky Bobby Wrestler

Glad to see you worked my name into a post. Thanks for the name drop. A better way to get info on me through a search engine is "Ricky Bobby first fast NASCAR Wonder Bread Highlander." Just thought I'd help you out a little.

It is winding down on the beach. I have sand in my shoes, have climbed the U.S.'s first light-house, watched a few hundred matches, and reported on 5 Kansas All-Americans!
But there is a bit of unfinished business! Will C.J. Napier be the next Kansas National Champion?
C.J.'s mother will be in the stands, as will his always present Grandparents, and a couple dozen team mates and other members of the Kansas contingent. In the corner, will be his proud father, Todd who will be assisted by the re-uniting of Columbus and Chanute. Yes, Andy Albright will be matside wearing Columbus red!
I can think of no more deserving person than C.J. and the Napier family! For a dozen or more years, I've gotten to watch C.J. compete from places like Wellsville, Kansas; Akron, Ohio; Las Vegas, Nevada; Fargo, North Dakota; and Virginia Beach, Virginia. And, his family has always been there! While I may not get to see C.J. compete over the next few years, I am certain that his family will.
He has a formidable task! His opponent will be Ian Paddock of Warsaw, New York; a small-town like Columbus, that has roughly 3,500 people. Paddock has over 260 wins in his 6-year varsity career and has signed with Ohio State University.
Now it is up to C.J. and he is ready to take the next step!

... and C.J. and the 135-pound class will be one of the first to wrestle!
They are getting ready for the Parade of All-Americans!

Why are they doing a jumbled order? I don't think I've ever seen a final that was like this before.

... and looking over that list, several finalists had matches against Kansas lads!
Nicholson put Caldwell to the back side. Cox put Slyter there. Ortega ... Jesseph. And as I recall a couple of those were fairly close bouts!
