Chief I'm wondering how you have Vincent at Number 1 in the all class ranking since Finney pinned him at The Bobcat? Just want some thought into the process

Yes, especially now that there is a cool shirt on the line.
Its one thing when they are just names on the Chief proclaimed list, but it is a horse of a different color when someone is actually going to produce something to give to them that they can promote in public. The shirt is a really cool idea though Chief, I have to give it to you on that one. Congratulations go to everyone on your list, they are all very deserving. I do commend you once again for your efforts with the list which I admit I really have enjoyed following. I also commend you for your generosity Chief, but you know that I expect Windham to get a shirt as well, with his name on it.

Chief, I'd have no problem paying for Mitchell's shirt, just let me know how much. I also wouldn't mind paying for one for myself if it was possible.

An interesting twist on the shirt idea....

According to Rule 20 Article 2 of KSHSAA's rules, I can go ahead with the shirts but they must be purchased by the recipient. Once I get them done, I will notify each wrestler on the roster.

Onward and upward!

really? a t-shirt for a ranking? whats next? "runner-up" on the back of my old timers jv torney t-shirt? appreciate the rankings all year. but a reward for your vote as the #1 ranked wrestler i find a little egotistical.

i dont see why not. while these rankings aren't necessarily official they are heavily followed, they are educated rankings, and they bring a lot of interest. i think these rankings are just as legit as anything else and i don't see why kids shouldn't be rewarded by the ranker if he so chooses.

I think it is awesome. Way better than an a piece of paper for Regional OW. I am still appalled that Rabid Rick dug deep to find a lame excuse to not allow the shirts to be given for nothing. I am assuming the Seniors could have them without paying since they are untouchable at this point. What the heck would KSHSAA due, suspend you from competing because someone gave you a t-shirt. Absolutely ridiculous.

chief, i think you have the wrong horgan. honestly, you're handing out a t-shirt based on your opinion of the kid? dont come at me with these are "educated rankings". of course they are but what is accomplished by your ranking? you get a medal for being ranked? a prize just seems a little overboard thats all. look forward to your input next year.

I wouldn't say Chief's rankings have to much opinion in them at all. He does tons of research on all the kids all year long finding out who beats who and who places higher than who, finding common competition, etc etc. I would say the research he does proves how unopinionated his rankings really are.
As for the shirts, why not? I think it's a pretty cool idea, and it can help get some of our elite wrestlers out for f/s and greco. If Chief's rankings are held in high regard, and a reward is a possible outcome of it, then maybe that incentive can help motivate them to come out and prove themselves during the summer.

I cannot think of any reason why you should even care? Are you jealous because you aren't getting one or because you didn't come up with the idea. Applaud the Chief for his passion and outside of the box thinking that does nothing less than promote wrestling. I am assuming that if you are reading this forum you love wrestling so embrace those who share your love of our great sport and roll with it! Promotion is critical to the survival of wrestling and we should not be throwing stones at anyone who is willing to DONTATE his time to recognize our kids' extreme efforts. Keep up the GREAT work Chief.

No you get a t-shirt and I think this is really cool. I know the Colby kids who got their medals for being undefeated state champions think a t-shirt for being the overall #1 ranked wrestler in their weight class is pretty darn cool. Thanks a ton Chief!

Would anyone care if I made runner-up or co-champion shirts for Roger Windham, Chaz Lawrence, Trent Cox and Cade Blair since there is no clear cut reason as to why they don't hold a #1 ranking?

I would guess that Roger, Chaz, Trent and Cade would care.

Perhaps they want one and feel there is no reason they shouldn't get one.

I know most of these wrestlers e-mails and t-shirt sizes, but please PM me with that info if you haven't already. There will only be 14 shirts made, so as to keep them exclusive. I will let you know the cost and mail them if necessary by May 18th.

Thanks!
