Matt,
I would take that one step further, if a coach has A wrestler that has worked hard enough and is talented enought to wrestle in an event he should have the freedom to do so.
Coach Sonderegger did a great job with his son by doing this.
It seems that everyone has the mentality of holding the top down to keep things fair instead of bringing the bottom up.
