There was a price list of what hotels would charge when the board made it's decision to stay in topeka. Would someone please post the prices that were quoted. Some of the prices seem to be mysteriously rising?

Thanks,

Chad Beeson

I know I got a call from the Capital Plaza stating I had to sign a 3 year contract instead of the one year since they renewed. It would be dropped if the tournament moved, but I was shocked by a 3 year contract.

I would be curious to know how they would intend to enforce a three year contract if you decided to move to another hotel or something. Do they think they could just charge someone's credit card the following year or sue that club or what?

Don't know I was just offended by the timing. It was right after the decision was announced, and I get a call with new demands.

My guess is, these hotels change managers often and the new managers have no knowledge of any agreements the Visitors Bureau has made. I don't believe our club has had a contract for years. We have reservations which are renewed each year but those can be easily canceled without any problems.

The Capitol Plaza does not require wrestlers to sign a 3 year contract. They were allowing them to sign for the three years if they chose to do so. Anyone that wants out of their contract can do so at this time and those rooms will be made available to other clubs.

Visit Topeka confirmed this with the Capitol Plaza within the hour.

I was told I had to sign a 3 year contract or the rooms would be given up. Can I sign a one year contract? I don't want out of my ONE year contract. I just don't want to sign a 3 YEAR contract. It is interesting what Greg is stating above that he doesn't think his club even has a contract and their rooms are not taken away.

Topeka Help,

Could you please post the room rates that were promised when the decision to keep the tournament in Topeka was made.

Thanks in advance,

Chad Beeson

•The hotels committed to fixed prices for the next three years. Here are the hotels that are participating in providing financial grants to USAW-Kansas Kids and their rental rates:
> Capitol Plaza - $99
> EconoLodge - $60-85 based on type of room
> Hampton Inn - $90 in 2010, $95-105 for the next two years
> Holiday Inn - $79
> Ramada Hotel- $89
> Super 8 at Forbes - $69.99 single, $79.99 double
> Sleep Inn & Suites - $109
> Baymont Inn & Suites - $79 for 2010, minimal increase thereafter
> Days Inn - $89
> Holiday Inn Express - $94
> ClubHouse Inn - $79 first two years, $85 third year

Beeson, I went back through all the postings and found where they had put this in one of them along with some other information when the decision was made.

Attention!!! I know this is normally discussing pricing for rooms during state, but here is something else I wanted to share with the wrestling community.

My sons baseball team, The Capital Rebels, has worked out a fundraising deal with the Holidome here in Topeka for the holiday season. If anyone is coming to Topeka between Nov 1 and Dec 31 they can book a room for $69.00 and the Holidome will donate $15.00 to our team.

Just call 785-272-8040 and ask for the Capital Rebels team rate of $69.00. I have already tried to work it so if you booked between those dates, for say the state tourny, it would apply.....but it only applies to staying in the room between the dates for the holiday season.

If it helps any of you during a holiday visit here, thats great! Thanks for any support!

I was also informed that I had to sign a three year contract in order to guarantee my rooms after next year. This was just after the decision was made to keep state in Topeka. I asked specifically if their hotel was in any way associated with the bid process, was told no. I would not sign a three year contract and was told that if someone wants my rooms after this year and are willing to sign the contract my rooms will be given away.

Prior to this year, you signed a one year contract for the next wrestling season.

I'm not willing to commit to these rooms when who knows what might happen in the next three years. I'm hoping the hotel does the right thing and continue in their agreements, prior to the latest bid.
