Did I miss something in that post? What is the "parochial attitude"? and how is it infecting the kids programs?

here is a mental picture. if we all stay within our district to wrestle kids club you have 200 kids in each club. now I dont know about you but if you have 5 or 6 coaches how many kids do you think get a real chance of actually learning how to wrestle. I have been with the big club and liked it for the most part but since I have been with a couple of small clubs that is what I want to do for my kids and for me as a coach. I can teach 5 or 6 and they get something out of it much easier. I think you guys are right it is a city thing and doesnt affect the smaller towns as much but I do know some kids from smaller towns who wrestle in other small town clubs. I even know some kids from other states that wrestle in some of those clubs.

Here's another case in point...
You have a club and they do try outs or only take a certain # of kids. It is a great opportunity for your kid but they don't want his brother.
So one sons wrestles for one club & one wrestles for another...
Is that right?
Is that a conflict?
This kind of stuff is going on all the time?
When did wrestling come to this?

There was a point in time ( in the Greater Wichita Area ) when, I was lead to believe, that any wrestler,in any wrestling program, would be welcomed to particpate in any program's work-out and/or wrestling practice.

My son took advantage of that percieved "mind-set", ant he availed himself of those opportunities/advantages, in years past.

He was always welcomed at any wrestling club he chose to attend, on any given week-day evening.

Sportsfan 02: I, for one, liked this "mind-set", and I'll tell you that the coaches in the clubs we visited did, as well.

It was not a "loyalty" issue, as we respected and admired our affilited kid's club coaches...

With that said, the "parochial attitude" comes into play, when another kid's wrestling club, resents and/or prevents the intrusion of a kid from another club, from injecting himself from their practice ... if, for no other reason than: He's not with our club;

I'm not sure why any of that was directed at me, if in fact it was, because I never said clubs shouldn't have guest workouts. I'm also not sure anyone else in this thread has suggested such. What I have said, and I'll let others speak for themselves is, that someone from outside our school district cannot, except by special approval of our board, join our club as a member.
