These are the kids that placed last year and I believe will be 10U this year. Koelzer, Spangler, Gates, Stanton, Beeson, Deshazer, Hopkins, Bollinger, Page, Mujica, Taysom, Hitchcock, Phippen, Podlena, Caro, Turner, Dryden, Whitaker, Priddy, Pelland, Steel, Green, Jacoby. If I missed or added someone that will not be 10U, my apologies.

i think about 4-5 of those will be at 64 possible 67, since i know a handful wreslted 61 some last year and were heavy 58's.

I agree with all the mentioned name's , it would be one heck of a bracket if they all weighed about the same.

We should all get together and enter the same weight at one of these little local tournaments

Last year at the Haysville tournament there was a heck of a bracket with Schroeder, Beeson, Deshayzer, and....
Having a bracket every now and then of some studs from some very close weights would be fun to watch and great for the sport. Get everyones consent and agreement! Take four of them and put them in a round robin. Decide a interm weight! Let them go!

We are in as long as it doesn't come as the same weekend as a National , what tourney? what weight? what kid's? Let's try to make it a 16 man bracket. Suggested weight 55-61, especially if they are all studs they can handle the weight difference, my boy can.

Come on let's get this super bracket going
Top Side- Beeson, Steele, Koelzer, Green, Jacoby, Pelland, Dryden, Hopkins, Stanton, Bollinger, Perez, Caro.

Bottom Side- Phippen, Hitchcock, Paige, POdlena, Turner, Parenti, Spangler, Taysom, Gates, Mujica, Deshazer, Priddy.
These are not the actual matches, just top and bottom

I know this is a little far fetched, but wouldn't that be something to get these kid's or even half in the same bracket. My apologies if I missed anyone. A coach can dream , can't he.
Good Luck to all of you this year, hopefully we will see ya on the mat.

I agree, wouldnt it be something to walk up to the wall and see all of these names in one bracket.

It's going to be a fun season, good luck to everyone!

Instead of saying 55 to 61 I think you would have to make it like a 59 pound weight class!
The bigger kids would have to give a little because the smaller kids are giving a little the other way.
Cause if you have a 63 pounder that wrestles 61 and a 53 pounder that wrestles 55 then that's 10 pounds. That is a bit much to give even for STUDS!
JMO!
Now all we need is for a tournament to step up & set this bracket up!

Great post, but if I walk into Ark City in December and see that on the wall, I don't think it will be excitment that I'll feel for Jonny if he was in the same bracket. I'm sure there are other middle of the pack wrestler's parents who would feel the same. We've been wrestling half of those kids listed by Chad for the last five years, one or two at a time is enough. Sure would be fun to watch, and I'll guarantee the wrestling on the mat wouldn't be the only place that the entertainment was happening.

I know it is fun to think about the what if's? This bracket will never happen for several reasons. 1) These are Kids, they are wrestling to have fun. The daddy's may want to see this but how much fun is it to wrestle a State or National Placer every match. It is alot of stress on the little guys and this bracket would be tougher than Tulsa Nationals. 2) Weight Difference. Some of these kids may only be weighing 53 lbs. while others are weighing as much as 63 lbs. Only 10 pounds? They should be able to handle it. That is roughly 19% weight difference. It would be the same as a 170 lb wrestler matched up against a 202 lb wrestler. I wouldn't want to give up that much weight and then have to be able to compete. 3) Distance. These kids are from Topeka area, Wichita, Garden City, Pittsburg, all over. To make this happen half of them would need to get a hotel for the night. 4) I have to agree with Nick, off the mat could end up being more entertaining than on....who wants to pay for security.

I think the main point here, and possibly James is trying to make is: WoW! Kansas is probably the most competitive state in the Nation at these weights. I count 12 state champions, 5 Tulsa National Champions, and 8 Tulsa National Placers. This is a why Kansas is so good at these weights. Several of these kids meet up weekly and that only makes them stronger. I'm happy just meeting one or two of them a week. I don't think I would like to have Jake try to run the gauntlet.

I would still love to see this happen!

Chad and BLT you guy's are right , I wasn't really looking at the weight difference, just kind of assuming that they were all about 55-61 with only giving up about 6 lbs or less, but I will say i'm glad to of peaked some interest in this, cause that would be one heck of bracket. Even if we got 6 of these boy's in a tourney evey other week would be exciting. Chad you are right we have some of the best in our own back yard.

Maybe I'm just a nieve parent, but I have always felt that these weights were possibly the toughest weights in the State. I obviously follow these weights/wrestlers more thouroughly than the others, and year after year I see several of these kids repeat as State Champs/State Placers; National Champs/National Placers ....

NColtrane...When I look at the kids in this weight class, I wonder "is this weight class stacked" (again wondering if i'm being nieve), and "what would it be like if we lived in another State. Would the kids that appear average be (((TOP GUNS))) somewhere else in the country". I haven't seen your son wrestle, but I do recoginize the name. I've noticed that Jonny has wrestled some of these kids competatively, and he seems to place top three quite often. smile

How many other age groups/weight classes are stacked like this? This should probably be a different topic...Sorry.

If you guys want to do a round robbin at Ark City that would be fine with me but the weights would have to be with in probally 6 lbs or less. We would just need to get in touch before hand and make sure we have everyones consent. As far as a 16 man bracket with 10 lbs difference I think I would have to pass.Reason being Zane would be one of the lightest ones in the bracket.I would want Zane to at least have a fighting chance.

Good luck to everyone. This should be an exciting year.

As in HS there are "Dream" match ups out there that people just want to see. If there was some people out there that was willing to have these matches at their tournaments then it would just be great for the sport. They could also announce it and maybe pack a few more people in the stands at their events.
I can remember plenty of matches over the last few years that people have just hung around to see even though they were done wrestling 2 hours before.
To have this kind of talent through out Ks and people being willing to step up and show case it would be great for the sport.
Make it a true exabition bracket.
Let the lil guys know...
Hey, this aint about a medal (even though they should all get a medal or certificate or prize). This aint going to count againest your "perfect" record.
It is about a few kids that are some of the best at what they do, showcasing the sport, their talent, and giving back to the sport to help it grow.
To all of those young men, who's names have been mentioned, thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the sport.
This whole thread just jacks me up for the season to start!

You are completly right, we have stayed to see matches and have had people stay to see my son's matches, because of the level of great competition they see. Last year at Tulsa Nationals we stuck around to see Louie Hay's and Cade Olivas match, my son has wrestled some great matches but that is one of the best matches ever seen in any weight class and it showed with the crowd and cheers.Once you feel that kind of intesity with the crowd your hooked, hangin on every move and every point.
I want to second BLT's post to thank all the kid's metioned and not mentioned for all their hard work year in and year out. Also to the coaches and parent's for the time, money and energy they put into our great sport.
