Topeka wins 35-27

Overall a competitive match. Topeka got some big wins at some spots that were unexpected. Nice job by both squads.

Yes. That was a big win for Topeka. I am quite sure they were hopin to avoid a pin there let alone get a W.

The Stokes/Simmons 125 match was competitive also...as was the Garrett/Litvak match.

Thanks again 3HSwrestler for the updates. Another tough dual for GE going back to back against the #4 and #9 ranked teams is quite the challenge. GE has Emporia next week also. Both teams tonight wrestled well and it should make for a very interesting Regional tournament.

3HSWrestler,

No disrespect to Flora-Swick, but Tignor went into tonight knowing he could win and he wrestled that way. At no time did he wrestle "not-to-loose", let alone try to avoid the pin. Heck he didn't even let up at the end, when many would have stalled the match out while sitting on a lead against a ranked opponent. I think Coach Kelly is doing a very good job instilling that work ethic into all of his wrestlers. Nice job tonight Vikings...and keep wrestling to the buzzer!

No disrespect taken Mr. Stanley. Just to clarify, when I made that statement, it wasn't an implication that Tignor didn't think he could win...every wrestler should have that mindset stepping on to mat...but I will stand by opinion that most were expecting a big Flora-Swick win. By the way, your boy as i assume he is, wrestled a good match at 215. hard fought and competitive.

Thank you...I think I know where you were coming from. Any win over a quality opponent like Flora-Swick should be celebrated for what it is. I just didn’t want there to be an impression that Tignor felt lucky to survive when he lead from the opening whistle to the final buzzer. Flora-Swick is very talented and wrestled a good match. He is not the first ranked foe that Tignor has upset this year. Tignor is sandwiched between Schreiner at 135 and Guillen at 145 in the practice room and is not easily intimidated by rankings. Good luck to the blazer wrestlers the rest of the way…at least leading up to regionals.

Both teams wrestled very well with a couple key wins by Topeka that decided the outcome. It will be fun to see how regionals shakes out.
