I thought there was a high school divison at the state tournament series. Was I mistaken? Because when I looked at the sub-district information on Track wrestling it just went to 16u...My other question is when can the HS wrestlers start with the kids clubs?

High School kids can start when their season is over which means state. That would be the last weekend of Feb. As I understand it the 16 and under is gone replaced by high school division not sure why sub-district is that way.

TrackWrestling carries over the setup information from the last year's event, which is why it still refers to a 16U division. Don't worry about the title, I'm sure this will be fixed in the near future with "High School" replacing the 16U division.

If you look at the state tournament information sheet, you'll see that the High School division has been added to this year's championships.

Once their coach releases them. I might add, they can't still be practicing with their high school teamates.

To my understanding it is their choice.

The High School Division is available for wrestlers currently attending high school, or middle school if their age does not qualify them for a younger age division. Wrestlers qualifying for two different age divisions may only enter one of those divisions.

For wrestlers who qualify for two different age divisions, the decision on which division to enter is up to that wrestler.

Mike, how can the division be for "middle school" wrestlers? As I understood it, it was for "high schoolers".

The wording of the amendment to the bylaws was specifically designed to allow older middle school wrestlers a division to wrestle in. A middle school wrestler who was too old for the 13 & 14 division, and who would have previously entered in the 15 & 16 division, will be allowed to enter the new High School division.

Mike, so a middle schooler would only qualify for the high school divsion if they had reached the age of 15 prior to the previous Sept. 1st date? In other words we won't have 14 year old middle schoolers participating in the high school division?

But, there will be 14 year old high schoolers competing with the kids, right?

Yes, for the most part, nothing will change concerning age divisions.
