Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School state pairings are out

Sporto I take it you dont go out of state for any camps do you. Your right we may have quite a few kids wrestle beyond highschool but compare that to Ohio, Oklahoma, Iowa, Pennsylvania and states like that and we are probably quite a ways behind that. Bottom line is you need to make the State tournament something big and not just a free pass. you have to earn that spot and having 3 kids in a bracket with 10 or 12 teams is not the answer. Raymond is right. Kansas should have the goal of being the leader rather than a follower. I am not dis-respecting any kid at all but I am saying there is something wrong with the system if you dont have to win a match to get to the Big Dance.

If you had a one class system you would still have people complaining about the seeding and draws. You may have misunderstood my point on that quote, I am fine with the system we currently have. Would I like to see some seeding system for state such as what Coach Alley has put forth in the past, yes. Would I love to have a Grand State, well heck yes!
